Horrible Attempt to Use Email to Prospect!

This makes me sick to my stomach. This is what makes it hard for the Sales Profession to be seen as valuable. And this kind of sales bad behavior is what reinforces the stigma of sales. Can all who do this just STOP IT today!

This is what sales have come to. Or should I say prospecting has come to? Below is an email string and my reply. I’ve deleted the name, company, and services to protect the guilty. However, you can put any company name in the slot, and any service in the slot and it will look like all the others you delete. 

BTW – the spelling errors are copied from the original messages, not mine.

If you want to skip the nauseam just go to My Reply.

What’s wrong with it you might ask?

  1. Already selling on price
  2. No compelling reasons to talk
  3. Nothing interesting
  4. No personality
  5. Nothing was mentioned of the problems I might have.
  6. Attempts to force a meeting
  7. Too long
  8. 3 messages that all wasted my time.
  9. Only one question and it’s in the subject line and it’s way too long.
  10. What would you change?

Yes, I’ve received your previous messages. 

            1. You need to help me realize that you understand my business and that your products or services have value and solve my problems. 

            2. You need to help me see your credibility. 

            3 why should I trust you? 

            4. Why should I spend time with you? 

            5. If you took 2 minutes to review my LI post, you would realize I am not a prospect.

FYI – I’ve not received any more emails from this imposter since my reply.
